Last Monday, the Supreme Court rejected the "unconditional apology" offered by Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna, citing their continuous violations of its orders and their "wilful and deliberate" activities.
During the hearing of the contempt case against Patanjali Ayurved in relation to the deceptive ads of the company’s medical goods, the Supreme Court harshly criticized Baba Ramdev on Tuesday, telling him he was “not so innocent”. He was also chastised by the court for his “irresponsible behaviour”.
The next hearing date is set for April 23 by a two-judge bench made up of Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah. The bench also gave Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna, who were in person in the court, a week to publicly apologize.
The top court also questioned the state’s licensing body, “Do you have the guts to do what you are doing? ” and chastised the Uttarakhand government for granting a license for Patanjali items. Aapne lagatar violations kiye. You aren’t so innocent that you didn’t know anything about the proceedings in court. We’re not saying they’re off the hook just yet,” the bench stated.
