"The Narendra Modi government ought to bear complete accountability": Rahul Gandhi attacks the BJP for the Doda incident in Jammu.

Only one week has passed after a similar terrorist ambush in the isolated Machedi forest region of Jammu’s Kathua district claimed the lives of five soldiers and injured numerous more. That incident occurred in Doda. Police and security personnel have initiated massive coordinated combing and search operations in response to the recent wave of terror strikes in the Jammu division. It has also given rise to fresh worries about militancy spreading into the Jammu region, which was previously thought to be safer than the nearby Kashmir region.

But Gandhi wasn’t the only one to voice disapproval. Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the Congress, too sent his sympathies for X’s passing while denouncing the Narendra Modi administration for what he saw as its seeming carelessness.

Following a late-night confrontation in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir that claimed the lives of four army troops, including a Major-rank officer, the Congress Party launched a fierce attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday.

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, criticized the BJP on social media for what he called “wrong policies” that, in his opinion, were to blame for the ongoing death toll in the volatile region of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kharge, “the Modi government is acting as if nothing has changed and everything is ‘business as usual.'” He called attention to the growing number of attacks in the Jammu area and urged the Centre to give national security first priority.

Jairam Ramesh, general secretary of the Congress, too adopted a firm stance, casting doubt on Prime Minister Modi’s earlier commitments.

“While we need to show that we can work together across party lines to respond effectively, we also need to address the big picture and ask ourselves: what became of the grand claims made by the self-styled Chanakya and the self-anointed non-biological PM?” Ramesh said.

Gandhi called the events “sad and worrying,” highlighting the necessity of taking responsibility.

Gandhi posted on X (previously Twitter): “Every patriotic Indian demands that the government take full responsibility for the repeated security lapses and take strict action against the culprits who harm the country and the soldiers.”

The recurrent acts of terrorism are exposing the dire circumstances in Jammu and Kashmir. The incorrect policies of the BJP are primarily affecting our soldiers and their families,” he continued.

The families of the dead troops also received condolences and solidarity from Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

The confrontation on Monday night was the third major event in the last three weeks in the Doda district involving security forces and terrorists, according to PTI. The office of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh verified that he has been in contact with the Chief of Army Staff and is being updated on the ongoing counterterrorism efforts in the region.
