Telangana Chief Minister Called Aside To Look Into Manipulated Amit Shah Film

New Delhi: In relation to a doctored film of Home Minister Amit Shah, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was called by the Delhi Police on Wednesday. Notices to join the investigation into the matter have also been sent to four additional individuals, all of whom are residents of Telangana. Mr. Reddy said that the Delhi police are a “new tool for the BJP” and ignored the summons.
“They are now utilizing the Delhi Police in place of the CBI and ED (Enforcement Directorate). However, he made fun of the BJP when he remarked, “We won’t be scared by anyone.”

Mr. Malviya said that other Congress representatives had posted the “fake video”. “They need to be ready for legal repercussions,” he wrote on X.

The Telangana Congress’s official X handle is said to have uploaded the video. Several party officials then reposted it, claiming it proved the BJP’s “agenda to abolish SC/ST reservation quotas.”

The Home Ministry and the BJP filed complaints, leading the Delhi Police to open a case about the modified footage that was making the rounds on social media. The Home Minister was shown promoting the elimination of reservation quotas for Scheduled Tribes (STs), Scheduled Castes (SCs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the modified video.

Following the complaints, a case was registered by the police under section 66C of the Information Technology (IT) Act and sections 153, 153A, 465, 469, and 171G of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and an investigation was started. In addition, Facebook and the X received letters from the police requesting details on the accounts that submitted and circulated the video.

Amit Shah said on Sunday amid a heated debate that reservations and quotas for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes would not be rethought as long as the BJP-led NDA was in office. In addition, he took aim at Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, alleging that the BJP seeks to reinstate reservations in the event of a third term in office.

According to the BJP, the video was edited to misrepresent Mr. Shah’s initial remarks made at a political event.

“An altered film that is entirely phony and has the potential to spark widespread violence is being distributed by the Congress. After lowering the percentage of SCs/STs and OBCs, Home Minister Amit Shah discussed eliminating the unlawful reservation granted to Muslims based on their faith, according to BJP spokesman Amit Malviya.
