“BJP seeks to seize power”Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav stated on Tuesday that the events in Surat are an illustration of the BJP’s desire to restrict people’s ability to exercise their right to vote.
His accusations concerned the fact that Mukesh Dalal, the BJP candidate in Surat, was proclaimed the winner without a challenger following the rejection of the Congress candidate’s candidacy and the withdrawal of each of the eight remaining nominees one by one. The right of the people to vote

Three of these candidates were from obscure parties, one was a BSP candidate, and four of the candidates were independents.

The people of Surat have experienced disdain. Voting was not permitted for them. We have been claiming that the BJP will deny people the ability to vote. Since candidates chosen in this way do not represent the will of the people, this is against the spirit of the Constitution as well, he stated.

According to Akhilesh, the Election Commission of India (ECI) should step in to correct the record since the BJP is pulling a practical joke on them. “We request that the Supreme Court and the ECI order new elections and take suo motu note of the events that transpired in Surat. “Those who participated in the plot ought to face consequences,” he declared.
Speaking at an assembly in Aligarh to solicit support for party nominee Bijendra Singh and Hathras candidate Jasbir Valmiki, Akhilesh maintained that the BJP aims to undermine the Constitution and the democratic system.
