Vijay Deverakonda pays tribute to father Govardhan Rao ahead of The Family Star release: ‘My hero, my star’

Father Govardhan Rao is honored by Vijay Deverakonda before the premiere of The Family Star: "My star, my hero"

In a video homage to his father Govardhan Rao, whom he refers to as the “star” of his family and “the man he made the movie for,” actor Vijay Deverakonda has posted it on social media.

“My champion. My Star. I have no idea what is ahead in life, but it is full of highs and lows. However, my daily goal is to bring you joy and pride. Alongside the clip on Thursday, Vijay wrote, “I love you, my Superstar.”

An excerpt of the actor’s early memories with his father is shown in the film. The movie starts with a picture of his father then cuts to a little image of Vijay perched on his father’s shoulders. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without you,” Vijay says next to a video that features happy childhood memories, including one of a birthday party.

Vijay continued, thanking God for “his first best friend, his first hero, and his strength” and said, “From my first steps as a baby, till every step I take today I know you are standing behind me and watching over me.”

The montage also includes family photos of Vijay’s brother Anand Deverakonda and mother Madhavi. Recognizing his father’s important contribution to his career, the Geetha Govindam actor comments one of the photos, saying, “You struggled so I never have to, you sacrificed your happiness so I can be happy.”

“Pardon me if I’ve ever disappointed or upset you.Recognize my affection for you. My greatest achievement will be making you proud. And you’ll always be my family star, Vijay concludes. He is seen embracing his father in the last moments of the footage.
