The business expressed disapproval of the decision in an early post on X’s Global Government Affairs on Thursday, arguing that the messages should not be suppressed on the pretext of free speech. However, it declared that it will abide with the directive from the Indian government. “X is required to act on some accounts and postings under the Indian government’s executive directives, or face severe fines and jail time, according to the post.

“In compliance with the orders, we will withhold these accounts and posts in India alone; however, we disagree with these actions and maintain that freedom of expression should extend to these posts,” read the statement.

X stated that there was still a pending petition against the government’s order. “A writ appeal contesting the Indian government’s blocking orders is still ongoing, in line with our stance. In compliance with our standards, we have also notified the affected users of these steps “it stated.
