Why, in my opinion, the OnePlus 12R is superior to the OnePlus 12

Review of the OnePlus 12R: Although it almost has the strength and glories of a flagship, the OnePlus 12R maintains its spice with a mid-range pricing. It's everything broken out in my comprehensive evaluation.

How does the OnePlus 12R compare to top smartphones?
Makeover of the metal frame design Up until now, one of the main differences between the R models and the flagships from OnePlus has always been their gorgeous metal frames. Even though the metal trim on the 12R only covers a small portion of the phone’s surface, trust me when I say you’ll notice a difference. This phone feels really solid and might be a little bit more resilient to the inevitable dings and bruises.
I was invited to the unveiling of the OnePlus 12 series, and although the flagship model—which costs more—grabbed all the attention, my thoughts were focused on the OnePlus 12R. The model for this year features a really remarkable display improvement in addition to a sleek new aluminum frame. The difference between OnePlus’s main and “R” lines is as minimal as ever, which makes the decision to spend more on the top-tier 12 difficult to make. I’ll explain in this review why the OnePlus 12R is so powerful considering its price range. I tested the Cool Blue model that OnePlus sent me, and even though I’m not normally a fan of brighter colors, the distinctive metallic sheen struck me as shockingly high-end in every way. The sole imperfection? That glitzy island of cameras with its garishly printed specifications.

The bezels are really thin up front. Nevertheless, the 12R is not particularly small. It should feel much chunkier than it does , especially with the enormous 6.78-inch display (bigger than last year ‘s already enormous 6 .74 inches), which weighs in at 8. 8 mm thick and 207 grams. However , despite its size, it fits into your hand more smoothly because to its curves. Alt hough curved screens are becoming less fashionable , they are still very worth it since they make holding these enormous phones so much more comfortable. Even yet, I wish the 12R was slightly smaller since people with tiny mitts may find the enormous 6.78-inch display difficult.

Display at the flagship level produces
I’ll confess that when I initially looked at the display, I was a little let down. When it came to actual brightness, the 4,500 nit peak brightness that OnePlus advertised as though it would burn your eyes wasn’t quite up to par. The maximum brightness of the 11R panel from the previous year was 1,450 nits, so theoretically, this panel should be around three times brighter. Regretfully, it appears that the 4,500 nit rating is limited to quite particular usage situations, as I never observed any area of the screen to get that intensely bright during my more than week-long use of the phone.

Please understand that the brightness is still excellent. It’s one of the sharpest screens I’ve ever seen, and you will definitely be squinting when the light mode is on at maximum brightness indoor lighting. It’s possible that OnePlus oversold this panel by claiming 4,500 nits. When you ignore the max brightness, though, you’ll find that this panel is truly flagship-caliber, with 2K resolution, Dolby Vision, and LTPO4. To further close the flagship gap, the 12R’s display specifications are almost exactly the same as those of the more expensive OnePlus 12.
